Residents can bring their recycling, food scraps, and trash to the Chester-Springfield Recycling Center and Transfer Station at 135 Fairground Road/100 Recycle Road in Springfield, one mile north of Riverside Junior High School (west side). Click here for information. Or residents can contract with a private hauler for trash removal, food scrap pickup, and recycling services.
In 2022, your Solid Waste District opened a permanent, seasonal household hazardous waste (HHW) depot for the collection and safe disposal of HHW. No more half-day collections - they became unsustainably expensive. Residents and businesses from all member towns may participate. Businesses will be charged a fee and must pre-register. Appointments are required for everyone - both residents and businesses. Call 802-674-9235 for more info. and to make an appointment or make one online at www.vtsolidwastedistrict.org.
