Household Hazardous Waste Collections 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Any District resident is welcome to bring HHW to any District collection.

The District will hold household hazardous waste (HHW) collections (for District residents only) on:

Saturday, May 12 Springfield Transfer Station  9:00 a.m. - noon

Saturday, May 12 Rockingham Transfer Station 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 8 Springfield Transfer Station  9:00 a.m.-noon

Saturday, Sept. 8 Weathersfield Transfer Station  9:00 a.m. - noon

Up to 10 gallons of waste is taken free-of-charge. 

11+ gallons = $4/gallon

 

Do NOT Bring: DO Bring:
latex paint (thicken with kitty litter or sawdust and trash it, or leave off lid to dry it out and then trash it) aerosols
waste oil (service stations may take it) antifreeze
fluorescent bulbs (transfer station or hardware store) automotive products
ammunition (gun dealer) gasoline
asbestos hobby chemicals
auto batteries (transfer station) household cleaners
alkaline batteries (trash) kerosene
empty containers (recycle) paint cleaners
fireworks pesticides
medical waste oil-based paints
medicines (trash) pool chemicals
computers (transfer station) mercury thermometers
radioactive material mercury thermostats

Bring in a mercury thermometer - get a free digital thermometer.

Pre-registration is not required for District residents. 
If you are a business that is considered to be a Conditionally Exempt Generator of HazWaste (less than 220 lbs./mo.), you may participate but you must pre-register and pay for your disposal costs.
