Local thrift stores and rummage sales are a great outlet for your used furniture.  If the furniture is beyond reuse, many local trash services can take it for a fee, or it can be taken to your transfer station for disposal (a fee will also be charged).  But before you load up your vehicle, check with your transfer station - not all of them take furniture.
