Syringes PDF Print E-mail
To dispose of syringes safely, ask your physician if he or she will take back used syringes for disposal. Or ask if your pharmacy participates in a needle return program. If neither your physician nor your pharmacy provides a collection system, call the Solid Waste District at 674-9235 or e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and ask for a neon orange warning label which reads as follows:

WARNING:  CONTAINS SHARPS AND SYRINGES
DO NOT RECYCLE

Sticker:    Apply this sticker to an empty TWO LITER #1 (PETE) soda bottle.
This type of container is the most puncture-resistant.

Store:        Carefully place your used syringes and other sharps into the bottle.

Seal:         When full, cap the bottle and seal the cap with heavy duty tape.

Dispose:    Dispose of full bottle in your household trash.  Let your garbage hauler know that sharps are present.  DO NOT RECYCLE THIS CONTAINER!
