HHW Collections for District Residents PDF Print E-mail
The District sponsors at least two events each year for the collection and safe disposal of household hazardous wastes. Residents and businesses from all member towns may participate. hazmat1Businesses will be charged a fee and must pre-register. No pre-registration required for residents.

Up to 10 gallons accepted free-of-charge.  11+ gallons = $2/gallon

The spring collection is held on the second Saturday in May at the Springfield Transfer Station from 9:00 a.m. - noon and at the Rockingham Transfer Station from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The fall collection is held on the second Saturday in September at the Springfield Transfer Station from 9:00 a.m. - noon and at the Weathersfield Transfer Station from 9:00 a.m. - noon.

latex paint (thicken it with kitty litter or sawdust and trash it, or leave off lid to dry it out and then trash it) aerosols

fluorescent bulbs (transfer station or hardware store) automotive products
ammunition (gun dealer) gasoline
asbestos hobby chemicals
auto batteries (transfer station) household cleaners
alkaline batteries (trash) kerosene
empty containers (recycle) paint cleaners
fireworks pesticides
medical waste (ask pharmacist) oil-based paints
medicines (trash) pool chemicals
computers (transfer station) mercury thermometers
radioactive material mercury thermostats
